Join Shanna Small and Johnna Smith on an exploration of the Ashtanga yoga method. This apprenticeship is open to all dedicated practitioners of Ashtanga Yoga who are looking to deepen their knowledge, grow their practice and/or be of service as an assistant to Ashtanga Yoga School Charlotte.

The 8 limbs of Yoga
The Complete Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga
Primary Series Counting
Basic Ayurvedic Principals
The apprenticeship features a 20 hour immersion combined with 24 hours of hands on in class training with real students.
Johnna Smith is Authorized Level 2 through KPJAYI in Mysore India. She has also has an extensive background in Para Yoga and the Sri Vidya tradition. Shanna Small is the author of, Ashtanga Yoga Project, a blog about living the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras in everyday life. Together, they have over 38 years of combined experience in the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.
Though this program does not require that you become an apprentice, the in class hours are required for completion. They provide an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and demonstrate your understanding of the course materials.
Participants are required to:
- Show up for the full immersion,
- Complete in class assist hours
- Practice Ashtanga with AYS Charlotte 3x per week
- Attend Yoga Studio Talks at Y2 Yoga.
To complete the course, participants must complete the above requirements and pass a written/oral exam.
The price does not include the cost of attending Ashtanga Classes at Y2 Yoga or attending Yoga Studio Talks.
Immersion July 20-22
Apprentice 1 hour per week August-October between the hours of 5:30AM-9:30AM Mon-Thursday or Sunday 8-10AM
Attend Yoga Studio Talks, Sunday 10AM-11AM
Verbal Exam Date: August 12 7AM-8AM
